SUPPORTING LOCAL FARMERS & PRODUCERS
The Serpentine Jarrahdale Food and Farm Alliance Inc., a not-for-profit organisation, was formed in 2014 as a means to preserving and valuing the peri-urban agricultural land that is within the Shire and to support local producers and farmers while bringing local food to local people.
Over the past 6 years the Alliance has held many workshops, field days, catered for many other community groups, held 4 Food and Farm Fests and now is launching the SJ Farmers’ Market. The Market will showcase the bounty of the Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire and other Peel Region areas while providing the local population with the chance to get to know local farmers, learn what is seasonally available in our area and partake in the freshest possible food. The Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Resource Centre Inc., a not-for-profit organisation, is the one place in the Shire that is available for all community groups to use as a “resource”. It has rooms for hire for functions and meetings, equipment to hire and services to provide such as secretarial skills, printing, laminating, copying.
Three days a week there is a Justice of the Peace on site, it is the site for information for all government services, tourist information, rail tickets, firewood permits and National Park passes.
The Community Resource Centre is proud to be able to be the host the SJ Farmers’ Market as an important
community event.
